New drypoints

M M in the green room
"M. M. in the Green Room" Drypoint engraving on aluminum, (December 2007).

Melissa M. is a bright and beautiful dancer, who came back to El Paso, learned a part in one day, and performed it a few days later. While sitting backstage in the "green room" at the performance of Oscar Antunez's "Snow" at the El Paso Art Museum, I captured her in this pose as she waited to perform. This is a drypoint engraving on aluminum, printed on Arches buff paper (plate size: 11 by 14 inches).

Detail of M M in the Green Room
A Detail of part of "M. M. in the Green Room".

I am including this bit of detail so that you may see how the drypoint technique roughs up the plate with "burr", a quality unique to this approach, which warms and softens the drawn lines.
